I'm sick of women being paid less then us men, or should I say males, since there are many members of our gender who don't deserve to be called a man. Anyway, I saw a video where a woman in a beauty contest was asked about what she thinks about gender inequality (Video Link: www.youtube.com/watch?v=TGvueR…
). She didn't have the best answer, but I'm not blaming the poor woman. If I was live on national television, I would probably choke up and give some stupid answer too. Anyway, under the video, I commented (I will be copying the exact text from YouTube),
"I absolutely dispise gender inequality. It is unexcusable that in 2013 we are still denying women the same pay as men."
Not long after, I recieved a reply from a YUNG FLVCKO, saying,
"ok listen up asshat. Do you know why men get more paid than women? because we, on average, (as proved by countless sources) work more overtime, take more risks in the job market, we are more aggressive towards promotions, me generally GET MORE SHIT DONE, and therefore we are paid more. If you want to get the same pay as men, do the same amount of work as men do, instead of sitting on your ass doing jack shit you fat feminist"
Of course, I replied to him without anger, and with facts.
"First of all. a woman could have the exact same job as a man, and work the same number of hours, and she would still be paid less. As for taking risks and being more agressive, women take those same risks, and getting a promotion isn't about being agressive, it's about working hard and proving that you deserve the promotion. Men, also, do not get more done. Studies show that when men and women were allowed to give up on a task, 52% of men gave up, while 38% of gave up. A 14% difference."
I would like to add that during a study, women worked on average for 2.5 minutes out of a 10 minute work period, when men on average worked for 2.1 minutes during the same 10 minute work period.
Also, even with the 'best' plans, if a woman who didn't smoke had the same plan as a man who smoked, the woman would still pay more.
This just goes to show that sexism is still alive, and all of us, whether male or female, need to step forward and say that if isn't right to allow discrimination against women.
